Puppy training
I now offer bespoke puppy training on a one to one basis for my clients and there new Gillhambrook puppies.
Stage One Training
The first course consists of weekly sessions once a week for four weeks. Clients will have homework and practising in between. We build on commands from the previous week so that training skills are layered gradually.
This course is designed for puppies from the age of 8 to 12 weeks, and focuses on remedial training, and formulation of positive behavioural patterns, and owner/puppy bonding through voice, and lure and reward techniques.
The aim is to start preparing the client and their puppy to be ready to start to explore the world together after puppy’s full vaccinations are complete. Training sessions are varied inside the home and outside in the garden.
Stage Two Training
Again one session per week for 4 weeks from 12 to 16 weeks.
These sessions take the skills already learned from the previous course and combine them with new commands but in settings where distractions occur. This is a great way to ensure your puppy is focussed on you at all times. Here I incorporate the training with several of my own retired bitches to demonstrate and allow play using my dogs ensures safety for the pups whilst play in real life settings is enjoyed. Recall is re enforced and much fun is had under controlled supervision.
