I am delighted to announce that I am currently supporting the University of Glasgow in their research project which aims to explain how early social environments shape puppies’ behaviour and stress resilience during their first year of life.

As a breeder and foremost a lover of animals in general I am passionate about their wellbeing. Specifically in my breeding practices I am a firm advocate of correct breeding socialisation in laying the foundation to a puppy’s education, which I achieve here at home in the birthing and raising of them. Furthermore I always explain to new puppy parents that it is their responsibility to continue the work that I have done in to ensure that their dog is well trained, respectful and a well rounded pet.

It is a known fact that the first year of a dog’s life is a critical period for development and learning. Experiences during this time can significantly shape a dog’s behaviour, stress, resilience and overall wellbeing.
The University of Glasgow are conducting the study with this in mind. The study involves a combination of survey type questions together laboratory analysis of individual cortisol levels gained from non invasive sampling techniques taken at key stages in the puppy’s development windows.

Conclusions taken from the study will be published in due course. For more information on the study please contact me through the enquires page on the website.
